About

The primary goal of this site is to gather all the ancient sources regarding Caligula in one place.

I started working on a play about Caligula a decade ago while in college. While researching it, my theater connections disappeared, so I abandoned it. Last year, I thought I had developed another connection, so I dove right back into research and developed a synopsis for a trilogy of plays about Caligula. I'd written a detailed outline and half of the first act for the first play when that connection disappeared. While doing research, I became very fustrated with having to go to nearly a dozen different websites to read the ancient sources that specifically related to Caligula and would detail what shaped his character. It seemed to me that somebody should have put all this stuff together in one place, but apparently they didn't. So I made this site for my own convenience. Now, I've fixed it up a bit and I'm hosting it on my band's website since I've got a lot of unused space and bandwidth here. I'm currently burnt out on him, but in the future I may expand this site.

I hope it can help anyone else who's doing research on Caligula.
